Ukraine puts new 1,000 Note into Circulation

The National Bank of Ukraine has released a new UAH 1,000 banknote into circulation on October 25, 2019. This is the largest denomination issued by Ukraine. 

The obverse side of the note carries the image of the founder and the first President of the National Academy of Sciences, Volodymyr    Vernadsky. The reverse side of the bill has an image of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences, Ukraine. The NBU is planning to issue a UAH 5 banknote into circulation.

From October 1, 2019, coins with denominations 1, 2, and 5 Kopecks have ceased to be legal tenders. They can be exchanged free of charge for a year, without any restrictions in any of the Ukrainian banks.
