The Philippines introduces P20 Coin to Replace Banknote

The Bangko Sentral ng Philipinas(BSP) issued the P20 coin to replace the banknote of the same value. The coin keeps the image of former President Manuel Quezon, the second president of the Philippines. On the reverse, the BSP logo, the native flora called Nilad, and the Malacanang Palace are seen.

The BSP has mentioned that the P20 coin has a longer life in circulation than the banknote and it is the most used denomination.

An enhanced P5 coin with nine-sides was also revealed, making it distinct from other coins. The coin is still silver in color and has the same design elements as before such as Andres Bonifacio, the father of the Katipunan, on the obverse and the  Tayabak plant on the reverse.
