The European Central Bank will officially introduce the new 100 and 200 euro banknotes on 17 September, she announced on Friday. These will circulate from the first half of 2019.
Tickets of 100 and 200 euros are the last of the series “Europa”. The 500 euro note will no longer be produced, following a decision by the ECB. Since 2013, the various euro denominations have been renewed, in particular to improve the various security features.
The old tickets remain valid and are gradually withdrawn from circulation. The new 5 euro banknote was launched in 2013, the 10 euro banknote in 2014, the 20 euro banknote in 2015, while the new 50 euro banknote was introduced in 2017.
