The Dominican Republic publishes changes in few bills for 2017 series

The Central Bank (BCRD) has announced changes in its bills of RD $2,000, RD $200 and its currency RD $25. The changes for the banknotes and currency of the year 2017 will be executed from 15 July 2019.

The RD $ 2000 bill will have the isotype with the visual identity of the BCRD, printed with the magnetic and optically variable ink. It will present a drop effect that feels like undulating sand. At the same time, the color will change from green to blue when the bill is tilted up and down.

The BCRD also mentioned that the isotype will have the denomination value in numerical characters and, the bill will have the same security measures as those currently in circulation.

The RD $200 bill will also have all the same features as in RD $2000, but the isotype color will instead change from pink to green. The other change is the difference in the size of the image of the Mirabal sisters and the relocation of their names as compared to the 2017 series.

The changes in RD $25  will be implemented by 30th September 2019. The change mentioned is the inclusion of the registration of DOMESTIC PESOS under the National Coat of Arms, in compliance with Article 229 of the Constitution of the Republic and Article 25, literal c) of the Monetary and Financial Law No. 183-02.
