At the beginning of 2020, the first new banknotes reflecting the country’s change of name to North Macedonia will be released. 500 denars will be released first, followed by 10 denars. The Governor said even though the banknotes contain symbols from Albanian culture, the new banknotes will not be written in Albanian. According to the Law on Languages, the new money will include the motifs and symbols of the Albanian culture.
