The Central Bank of Nicaragua (BCN) introduced new 500 and 1000 cordobas into circulation today. These notes consist of recyclable material with more counterfeit measures.
The new denominations are made in the polymer substrate with the latest technologies that make them highly durable with state-of-the-art security measures.
The new notes will replace the old ones already in circulation, especially those that are in bad condition. The new design for the 500 cordobas has the image of the Cathedral of Leon on one side and the Momotombo volcano on the other. The 1000 cordoba will have the San Juan River and the San Jacinto farmhouse.
