New HK$1,000 banknotes set to debut in Hong Kong on Wednesday

The 2018 new series HK$ 1,000 notes and HK$ 500 notes will be issued into circulation on 12th December 2018 and 23rd January 2019 respectively by the  Hong Kong monetary authority and the three note-issuing banks – Standard chartered bank limited, Bank of China Limited and the Hong Kong and Shanghai banking corporation limited. By mid-2019 and early 2020, the other three denominations of HK $100, HK $ 50, HK $ 20 will enter circulation. All banknotes will continue to be legal tender.
