The Governor of Banco de Mexico has announced the release of the new 200 peso banknote, the second denomination in the new series of the Mexican banknotes.
The new notes are made with anti-soiling cotton paper by Crane currency. The key security features included are:
- Rapid security thread is in blue with a sliding band movement and the numeral has a pulsating effect.
- SICPA Spark Live has the shape of the denomination and the color changes from green to blue.
- Tactile lines for the visually impaired are included on both edges of the banknote.
- A special infrared ink from Japan is integrated in the new note for machine identification.
The new note represents the history of the Mexican Independence in the front and an ecosystem with a national natural heritage site recognized by UNESCO. A certain volume of the pieces will have the inscription “25th Anniversary of the Autonomy 1994-2019” to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the autonomy of Banco de Mexico.
