Last Date to Replace Old Omani Banknotes: July 31, 2019

The Central Bank of Oman has issued a reminder that the deadline to replace the old Omani banknotes issued before November 1, 1995,  is July 31, 2019. After the initial date of expiration of the banknote was declared, a grace period of an extra month starting from July 1, 2019, was also given.

The banknotes to be replaced are:

First issue: Saidi Riyal issued in 19770 under the supervision of Muscat Currency Authority (100 Baisa, Quarter Rial, Half Rial, One Rial, 5 Rials, 10 Rials).

Second Issue: Banknotes issued in 1972 under the supervision of  Oman Currency Board (100 Baisa, Quarter Rial, Half Rial, One Rial, 5 Rials, 10 Rials).

Third Issue: Banknotes issued in 1976 under the supervision of  Oman Currency Board (from 100 Baisa to 50 Rials). 

Fourth Issue: Banknotes issued in 1985 under the supervision of  Central Bank o Oman (from 100 Baisa to 50 Rials). 

Fifth Issue: All banknotes (50 Riyals, 20 Rials, 10 Rials, and 5 Rials), which do not have the shiny holographic security strip on the front side of the note.

The Central Bank of Oman has announced that all the banknotes will be replaced by the CBO HO in Ruwi or its branches in Salalah and Sohar before the deadline.
