Central Bank of Turkmenistan Issues New Modified Banknotes

The Central Bank of Turkmenistan on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the country’s neutrality introduced new modified banknotes in denominations of 1, 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 manats.

According to TDH news agency’s report, the reverse side of the banknotes depicts the Turkmenbashi International Seaport and the Constitution Monument, as well as previously depicted buildings on the 2014 banknotes. These changes were introduced in order to strengthen security features and improve the visual elements of banknote security.

The symbol of the year “Turkmenistan - the homeland of Neutrality” depicted on the reverse side of the new banknotes was made using rainbow printing. The obverse of the banknotes includes the year of issue and a facsimile of the signature of the Chairman of the Central Bank of Turkmenistan.

On the territory of Turkmenistan, these banknotes are obligatory for acceptance in payments by all enterprises, organizations and institutions, regardless of the form of ownership and field of activity. All banknotes of the Central Bank of Turkmenistan samples of 2009, 2012, 2014 and 2017 continue to be legal in the country.

The Central Bank also issued gold and silver commemorative coins in honor of the 25th anniversary of the country’s neutrality.

The emblem of the current year “Turkmenistan - the homeland of neutrality” is depicted on the obverse of the new coins in the center, against the background of the rays of the rising sun. In the upper part, along the edge, the inscription “TÜRKMENISTAN - BITARAPLYGYŇ MEKANY” is applied, and in the lower part - “1995–2020”.

The gold coin - Au 916.7 - weighs 39.94 grams and the silver coin - Ag 925 - 28.28 grams. The diameter of the coins is 38.61 millimeters.

Upon order of the Turkmen Central Bank, the coins were minted by Singapore-based Eng Leong Medallis Industries Pte Ltd, a leading company specializing in the creation of state orders, awards and medals.
