The outstanding Armenian writer, poet and public figure Hovhannes Tumanyan’s 150th birth anniversary were celebrated by issuing gold commemorative coins by the Central Bank of Armenia. With the nominal value of 10,000 AMD, 500 gold commemorative coins were issued.
The obverse side of the coin has the image of a speck from Tumanyan’s poem “Akhtamar”. The reverse side contains the portrait of the writer and his signature. Towards the left his birth and death dates are written(1869-1923). The designer was Vardan Vardanyan, which were minted by the Lithuanian Mint.
