Azerbaijan - Presentation of new banknotes was held at the Central Bank

The presentation ceremony of commemorative badges and new 200 manat marking of the national leader Heydar Aliyev’s 95th anniversary and the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic were held at the Central Bank.

Opening the event, the Chairman of the Central Bank Elman Rustamov noted that the national currency is one of the main attributes of state independence. In this regard, the turnover of Azerbaijani manat in 1992 was an important event. However, during the first years of its circulation the manat was not the only means of payment in the country. It was determined by the decree of the national leader Heydar Aliyev on December 11, 1993 that manat was the only means of payment in the territory of the republic, and the country was completely out of the ruble zone. The only means of payment for the manat was once again confirmed by the Constitution adopted in 1995.

It was noted that, according to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated February 7, 2005, denomination of manats was carried out on January 1, 2006 and new generation banknotes were issued with circulation. The new generation of paper and metal coins based on the concept of “single family” reflected Azerbaijan’s independence in all spheres, the ancient history of our country, its rich culture, its national and spiritual values, and its dynamic development during the years of independence.

Despite the expiration of 12 years, our national currency marks preserve its relevance for aesthetic appearance, conceptual theme, and modernity. The Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) keeps on focusing on the modernization of our money circuits’ security systems, taking into account current challenges in the field of cash.

Given the dynamic development of the country’s economy, the changes in the structure of cash in circulation and the effectiveness of the cash money circulation in the last decade, it was decided to issue a new 200-dollar banknote. In the competition for the design of the new badge, the US company was selected as a design winner by Crane Currency. This design was manufactured by Giesecke + Devrient, a coin design integrated with progressive protection systems introduced by a number of companies.

Rustamov said that today the Central Bank is studying the 200-man banknote of Heydar Aliyev Center, an architect of an independent Azerbaijan, built in memory of the national leader. The new banknote depicts the majestic description of Heydar Aliyev Center, one of the most modern symbols of our country, the capital’s main exterior and interior design elements, elements of national carpet samples and other national ornaments.

Then E.Rustamov presented a memorable note for the eternalization of national leader Heydar Aliyev’s 95th anniversary. He stressed that there is a symbolic link between the jubilees of Heydar Aliyev and the People’s Republic of Azerbaijan. A long period of Azerbaijan’s last 100 years of development is connected with the name of Heydar Aliyev. The strong foundations of its economic independence have been created since the first day of the nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev’s leadership in Azerbaijan.

In the early 1990s, the national leader, who came to power under the auspices of the people in the conditions of serious threats to independence, restored national solidarity soon, began radical reforms in strengthening statehood and market economy. Macroeconomic stability, which is a key priority in the economic field, has been restored. The mechanism of economic management in the country was restructured, new institutions were formed.

As a result of large-scale measures, the country’s economic growth was restored shortly and the living standards of the population began to rise.

In addition to radical reforms in this period, the country’s long-term development needed a strong financial boost. One of the greatest steps taken by the Great Leader in complicated historical conditions was the signing of the “Contract of the Century” within the framework of oil strategy. Oil strategy has become a crucial factor in the country’s future development.

The return of the national leader to power became the turning point in the formation and development of the financial-banking system. On the basis of accepted programs the banking system was strengthened, serious consolidation and restructuring processes were started, the number of private banks was optimized.

Rustamov noted that on the basis of the economic potential of the Great Leader, his worthy successor, Ilham Aliyev, achieved the “golden age of decade”. Thanks to the “persuasive” growth doctrine since 2003, the national economy has grown 3.3 times. Thanks to rapid growth, the living standards of the population have risen dramatically, and poverty has declined nine times in just one decade. Strategic currency reserves increased 27 times to $ 44 billion. dollars. It is no coincidence that Azerbaijan is the most competitive country in the CIS according to Global Competitiveness Report .

Rustamov said that the people who said “HES” in the last presidential election gave independent confidence to Ilham Aliyev for his credentials. Undoubtedly, the people, who own the destiny, will reach all targets under the leadership of the Leader.

He informed the participants of the event that Heydar Aliyev’s 95th jubilee is being held in the country on a decent basis. The Central Bank also permanently keeps perpetuating the name of the national leader. The release of commemorative badges devoted to the national leader has already become a good tradition. On the occasion of the 80th, 85th and 90th jubilees of the Great Leader, the Bank issued a series of jubilee coins made of various precious metals by the Central Bank. These coins have been welcomed by the public, local and foreign numismatics.

Today, the Central Bank is proud to announce the release of a commemorative badge dedicated to the 95th anniversary of Heydar Aliyev. The weight of note notes consists of a highly purified gold and a platinum-gold combination of 1 troy ounce (31.1 grams).

On the jubilee banknote, widely used ornaments from the state symbols of Azerbaijan, as well as architecture and networking art have been used. A golden and platinumed portrait of the Great Leader was reflected in the background of the State flag reflected on a special relief at the front of the badge. In the back section, the State Emblem is depicted.

Rustamov also presented a memorable note for the perpetuation of the 100th jubilee of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. He said that President Ilham Aliyev issued relevant decrees on holding the 100th jubilee of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic and declaring the current year as the “Year of the People’s Republic of Azerbaijan”. These are state-level history, embodiment of our great respect to the past.

The Central Bank of Azerbaijan also issues memorable notes on the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Republic in order to perpetuate this remarkable history. Memorabilia consists of high-resolution gold of 1, ¾ and ½ troy ounces.

At the front of the jubilee symbol is a symbol of freedom, a map of the Republic of Azerbaijan and a national anthem on it, and the graphic design of the flag of Azerbaijan. The history of the Republic, the pigeons released from the chained cage as the triumph of our independence struggle are depicted. In the back of the jubilee badge, the State Emblem, crescent and eight-pointed stars and networked ornaments are depicted in the back.

Both jubilee coins were produced in the Royal Mint of Great Britain “Royal Mint”.

Rustamov expressed his confidence that the presented badges would occupy a special place in the collections of world numismatics.

At the end of his speech he reiterated that Heydar Aliyev’s state school will continue to be an ideological nuclear power for the further development of independent Azerbaijan for decades. President Ilham Aliyev, the worthy successor of this heritage, will successfully lead Azerbaijan to a bright future with its modernist perspective.
